The ensemble was directed by Chris Mitchell from 2015 – 2022. Jennifer Kelly then directed the 2023 season before Michelle McCabe was appointed to direct season 2024. The tutoring staff are experienced, professional performers and teachers led by Course Director, Donald Finlayson. The ensemble meets several times during the year and activities include a residential course and large-scale concert performance in Glasgow.
As well as music training and rehearsals, the residential course includes a programme of team-building games and social activities. Recent activities include a Bhangra workshop with Anuj Choudhary, end of course ceilidh and barbeques.
Additional activities often include a Taster Day event, attendance as special guests at an RSNO Concert, a Side by Side day with orchestral artists such as the RSNO and recording sessions.
