Why do I pay to become a member of a WSSO ensemble?
WSSO Trust is a registered Scottish charity. The full cost of providing the WSSO annual calendar of activities is now approximately £300,000 per year. Approximately two thirds of this cost is met by supporting organisations;
- 12 Partner Local Authorities contribute annually toward core costs and for each local authority school pupil taking part
- The University of Strathclyde provides office accommodation at the Glasgow campus & professional services, including HR & Finance
- Witherby Trust provide programme design and print services
- Maxi Haulage provides storage of WSSO Trust equipment
- WSSO Trust receives annual donations from supporting individuals and organisations
Members are therefore asked to pay the remaining 1/3 of the cost of provision as follows:
How much do I pay for membership of a WSSO Trust ensemble?
Member Contributions for season 2027
- Senior ensembles: £450 (£550 for independent school pupils & pupils from outwith the WSSO local authority catchment area).
- Training ensembles: £320 (£420 for independent school pupils & pupils from outwith the WSSO local authority catchment area)
Payment Options
External Members: The Trust welcomes independent school pupils and those from outwith the WSSO local authority catchment. These members (ie. External Members) are asked to pay an additional £100 to make up part of the shortfall in funding which partner local authorities provide for their own members. Please note, although external members pay slightly more, they still benefit greatly from the core funding provided by the other sources listed above.
