Jane Ferguson – Course Director, Symphony Orchestra

Jane Ferguson has been involved in WSSO activities since the early days, working as a violin tutor and as Course Director for the symphony orchestra. She currently works as a violinist and is Head of Instrumental Services in East Dunbartonshire.

“WEST is unique for the friendships made which last well beyond school years. Each year we strive to create a happy and inspiring environment which allows our young musicians to flourish. I’m delighted that so many former members want to come back as house staff and help to ensure the success of the courses for the next generation of young people taking part.  My own career has taught me that it’s essential for talented young musicians to have an opportunity to perform at a high level and experience the challenges of performing professional repertoire such as WSSSO and WSSCB perform. Having worked as Course Director with the symphony orchestra for many years, I was delighted then to be asked to tutor 1st violin with the newly formed String Orchestra. So many more young musicians can now experience the ‘WEST Family’ effect“.
