Calendar of Events 2021 – Version 5 (Click Here)

With restrictions and social distancing measures expected to remain in place for much of the year, WSSO Trust has developed an online programme to replace the previous 2021 calendar of activities.  While we are sorry not to be able to go ahead with our original plans, our first priority will always be the safety and health of all our members and staff.

We are proud to be able to call on the country’s top teachers and professional musicians and the support of partner local authority music services to provide expert training and guidance under the direction of our outstanding Artistic Directors.

The revised calendar is very different from our usual pattern of events but includes exciting new initiatives which we hope will provide a stimulating and enjoyable challenge for members.

Main highlights of the season will include;

  • Sectional rehearsals and recorded tutorials provided by WSSO staff
  • Live RSNO Inspire Sessions
  • Full ensemble rehearsals with Artistic Directors
  • A specially selected work for each ensemble chosen by Artistic Directors
  • A newly commissioned work, ‘Westering Echoes’ written by Jay Capperauld recorded by the RSNO and WSSO members
  • A virtual ‘fun night’
  • A virtual recorded concert to be broadcast on You Tube during August

Further details will be provided in regular updates throughout the season.

We’ve had to adapt our delivery methods and embrace technology but live ensemble music-making will always be the ‘heart and soul’ of WEST and we look forward to a safe return as soon as possible.
